The story centers on Romulus Ledbetter (Samuel L. Jackson), a man who was once a talented musician and a devoted family man and is now a paranoid schizophrenic living in a cave outside Manhattan. As he battles his illness in seclusion, he discovers a frozen corpse outside his cave and calls on his daughter, a police officer, to investigate. Romulus is forced back into the real world when he follows his instincts and tries to solve the crime.
